January 25, 2005 Two hundred children from East Baton Rouge Parish Public Schools will
receive free eye exams and eyeglasses at a mobile clinic provided by
the LensCrafters Foundation. The event is part of a mission to deliver eye exams and new glasses to disadvantaged children across America. LensCrafters Foundation sponsors two “Vision Vans” that are 40-foot mobile eye care facilities on wheels – complete with two eye exam lanes, a finishing lens lab and a dispensing area.
A “Vision Van” will be in Baton Rouge on February 23 & 24 from 8a.m. to 5p.m. LensCrafters in partnership with Health Care Centers in Schools (HCCS) and the East Baton Rouge School System are organizing the two day mission. The “Vision Van” will operate at the East Baton Rouge Parish School System’s Information Resource Center on S. Foster Dr. All students must have appointments to be seen by the Vision Van. HCCS School Nurses have prescreened students and are in the process of contacting families to arrange appointments. Parents that feel their child (or children) would qualify for this free service, please contact the child’s school nurse or Health Care Centers in Schools.
